Being thoughtful, stepping back from always doing and seeing familiar experiences from a new perspective, this is what the participants of the EMBA McGill – HEC Montréal learn in the module ‘The Reflective Mindset, Managing Self’.

What is the role of a leader and what are the main challenges that come with such a function? This is a quick overview of the many issues raised during the sessions on the theme of leadership led by Cyrille Sardais, associate professor in the Department of Management of HEC Montréal and holder of the Pierre-Péladeau Chair of Leadership. The participants had the opportunity to think about these issues in a most practical way by raising the baton and conducting an orchestra for a few minutes! Because being a leader is also putting yourself in the shoes of a conductor and directing largely autonomous groups of experts.

During this module, which was offered in residence in the Laurentians from September 21 to 27, 2018, many speakers studied with the participants various topics such as the nature of management work, emotional intelligence, management styles, ethics as well as individual, organizational and social accountability.
